INEE 2009 Global Consultation, Istanbul (March 31 – April 3)
This presentation, delivered by Lili Stern of the IRC at the INEE Global Consultation working group session on Comprehensive Approaches to Vocational Education & Training (VET) & Youth Livelihood, provides an overview of the IRC's experience transitioning from a direct service provision to a systems approach that relies more on facilitation in the organization's VET activities. Key issues discussed include:
- What is a ‘sustainable livelihood’ approach?
- What does this look like in IRC’s Y&L programs?
- What have been the results so far?
- What actions are we taking to make IRC’s Y&L programs MORE market-driven and comprehensive?
- What have we really learned?
- What gaps are remaining?
- What tools are available to address these gaps?
