In many parts of the world, economic stability relies on access to natural resources for daily living as well as income generation. Children and youth often make up the largest portion of the population and have a significant stake in resource use. Unhealthy, polluted environments have a negative impact on the health of developing children and youth as well as on their economic opportunities. Meanwhile, youth are often the early adapters of new ideas and technologies. Encouraging proactive environmental awareness in youth could pave the way for environmentally sustainable economic development. This section of the website draws together resources on this topic to provide practitioners with information on how to incorporate such considerations into programming.

EcoVentures International is hosting a series of workshops to assist organizations engaged in or interested in youth livelihoods programming.

On September 28th, 2009, the following workshops are available:

  • Savings Programs for Youth – Best Practices & Tools, an interactive simulation training to help youth-serving organizations incorporate a savings and loan component into their operations. It will be held from 9:30am-12:00pm. Details available here.
  • Environmental Livelihood Programs for Youth – Best Practices & Tools, which is meant to help organizations incorporate youth into natural resource value chain projects and recognize new business opportunities that have a positive impact on the local economy and environment. Details available here.

Unite For Sight’s conference convenes a committed vanguard of thousands from more than 60 countries. The conference challenges students, professionals, educators, doctors, scientists, lawyers, universities, corporations, nonprofits, and others, to develop innovative solutions to achieve global goals.

The conference will feature 200 Speakers, including Keynote Addresses by Dr. Jeffrey Sachs, Dr. Sonia Sachs, Dr. Susan Blumenthal, and Dr. Harold Varmus.
