USAID/Peru seeks to develop innovative alliances that decrease malnutrition (chronic and micronutrient malnutrition, particularly anemia) in children in support of the Government of Peru’s malnutrition strategy. The alliance will stimulate and encourage action by regional and local governments to increase effectiveness of their nutrition programs. USAID will give priority to innovative, private-sector driven interventions including, but not limited to, the following examples:
- nutrition education,
- micronutrient administration,
- improved water and sanitation (handwashing, access to potable water, etc.),
- improved household practices (improved kitchens, etc.),
- food access (particularly high biological protein sources), and
- increased access to quality healthcare (including prenatal care, treatment and prevention of childhood illnesses such as diarrhea and respiratory infections, etc.).

USAID/Russia is making a special call for the submission of concept papers that support partnerships between non-profit organizations and the private sector. Applications addressing the following thematic objectives are sought:
- Cooperation between civil society, government and business to advance local economic and social development.
- Improved entrepreneurship in the North Caucasus in the areas of agriculture, and small and medium enterprises.
- Improved private sector involvement in combating tuberculosis and improving the health and well-being of women, children and youth.
The purpose of this Annual Program Statement Addendum is to:
- harness the unique skills, perspectives, and resources of the private sector, private foundations, local governments, and other organizations to address development challenges within Russia;
- increase the total value of resources available to address development needs in Russia; and
- enhance the financial sustainability/diversity of non-governmental organizations in Russia.

USAID/West Africa is seeking applications from qualified organizations to implement a program to promote food security and improve the livelihoods of families in selected communes and villages of southern Niger. The main objective of the Niger Food Security Program (NFSP) is to increase food production and incomes, and ensure livelihood protection and health for food insecure farming households through the use of improved agricultural and livestock production technologies, increased market participation, innovative approaches to strengthening the household asset base and provision of safe drinking water.
The W. K. Kellogg Foundation works in the United States, Latin America and the Caribbean, and southern Africa. The foundation focuses on children, and has three funding priorities: 1) Learning; 2) Food, Health, and Well-Being; and 3) Family Economic Security.
The foundation seeks proposals that have the potential to:
- Have a measurable impact on children and families who face significant barriers to opportunity for success
- Strengthen the “opportunity grid” (the systems and services) within communities that create opportunities for children
- Make significant and sustainable change
- Engage promising innovative solutions and technologies
- Work in partnership with communities, governments, businesses, and experts

The U.S. State Department Bureau of Population, Refugees and Migration (PRM) is hereby soliciting proposals for humanitarian projects benefiting Iraqi refugees in Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, and other countries with a sizable Iraqi refugee population.
PRM will consider proposals from non-governmental organizations (NGOs) with proven track records in implementing refugee assistance programs. Higher consideration will be given to organizations that have well-established operations in the country (or countries) of program activity.
PRM’s FY 2009 priority sectors for NGO programs assisting Iraqi refugees are:
- Health care
- Psychosocial programs and/or mental health programs providing therapy for depression and anxiety
- Humanitarian assistance and protection
- Education
- Vocational training or livelihoods programs linked to current and/or future job opportunities inside Iraq
- Skills building or maintenance programs
- Family and community focused programs to combat and respond to gender-based violence and exploitation, and labor exploitation
- Case management programs aimed at addressing the interrelated assistance and protection needs of vulnerable beneficiaries through providing services and referral networks.
PRM is interested in innovative NGO proposals addressing the long-term needs of Afghan refugees as well as their host communities in Pakistan. As in past years, PRM generally supports activities in the areas of:
- vocational training and preparation for sustainable livelihoods
- basic and maternal/child healthcare
- primary education, teacher training, and provision of materials and equipment
- prevention of and response to gender-based violence (GBV)
- water and sanitation systems rehabilitation and repair; and
- supplemental feeding and nutritional programs.
The following activities are priority areas for PRM in FY09:
- Provide or improve access to basic and maternal/child healthcare.
- Provide access to primary education for boys and girls. Educational programs may include teacher training and rehabilitation of existing school facilities.
- Conduct vocational training in marketable skills and, as necessary, provide the required tool set for the profession.
Programs should seek to identify skills that would be marketable in both Pakistan and Afghanistan.
